Getting started

Which machines does Nightwise support?

ResMed AirSense 10, AirSense 11, AirCurve 10, and other ResMed machines that write an STR.edf file and a DATALOG folder to the SD card. Philips cards are not supported yet. Nightwise tells you if it does not recognize a card.

How do I get the card into my phone?

iPhone: use a USB-C or Lightning SD card reader. Plug it in with the card inside, open Nightwise, tap Import a card, and choose the card's top folder (the one that contains STR.edf and DATALOG), not a folder inside it. Android: use an OTG (On-The-Go) card reader; the steps are the same. Put the card back in the machine when you are done so it keeps recording.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There's no sign-up and no login. Your card's data stays on your phone.

Can I try it without a card?

Yes. Open More and tap Try the sample card. It loads nights from a made-up machine so you can explore every screen, and you can import your own card at any time.

What the numbers mean

Hours used

A night runs from noon to noon, so a late bedtime or an early morning stays in the same night. Breaks never count against you: hours used is the total time the mask was on, however many times you took it off. Four hours or more is the usual aim.

Breathing events (AHI)

The apnea-hypopnea index: how many times an hour your breathing paused or became very shallow while the mask was on. Under 5 is the usual range. It is your machine's own count, not a sleep study, and your sleep clinician can tell you what is right for you.

Leak

The 95% value: for 95% of the night the leak was at or below this number. Under 24 L/min is a good seal; that is ResMed's large-leak line.

Pressure

Also a 95% value: the pressure your machine was at or below for 95% of the night, with your setting shown underneath it. Nightwise never suggests a pressure.

Why can the app and my machine's screen differ?

The headline numbers are your machine's own summary from the card, so they should match its screen. The detail files are cross-checked against that summary and can differ by a small amount. A night that was still recording when the card came out fills in after the next import.

Nightwise Pro

What's free and what's Pro?

Importing a card, every night's own numbers, the newest 7 nights in full detail, and the 7-night trends are free. Nightwise Pro adds every night in full detail, the breath-by-breath view, longer trends, the setting-change compare, and the doctor report PDF.

How much is Nightwise Pro?

$34.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, $4.99 a month, or $79.99 once for lifetime Pro. Prices can vary by country; the app always shows yours. All three unlock the same Pro features.

How do I restore a purchase?

Open More and tap Restore purchases. Your unlock is tied to your Apple or Google account, so this brings it back on a new device or after reinstalling.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by the App Store or Google Play, not inside the app:

  1. iPhone: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → select Nightwise → Cancel.
  2. Android: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → select Nightwise → Cancel.

I paid but Pro isn't active.

First try Restore purchases in More. If it still doesn't unlock, email [email protected] with the date of purchase and we'll sort it out.

ChatGPT plan (optional)

What is it?

Three optional helpers, Explain this night, Ask about this night, and Before your clinic visit, written from your numbers on your own ChatGPT plan. It needs a ChatGPT Go, Plus or Pro plan. It is free in Nightwise: we never bill for it and it is not part of Pro.

Why don't I see it?

The feature switches on remotely once OpenAI admits Nightwise to its program. Until then the ChatGPT entries are hidden and everything else in the app works as normal.

What leaves my phone?

Only when you tap one of the three buttons: the night's summary numbers (hours used, breathing events per hour, leak, pressure, settings, and the machine's model name) with totals for the last 7 nights, or, for a clinic visit page, the last 30 or 90 nights' summary numbers with their dates. Never the raw recordings, your name, the serial number, the name typed on a report, or any file. It goes straight to OpenAI under your plan; Nightwise has no server in between. The Privacy Policy has the full list.

It says my weekly limit is used up.

That is the limit you set for Nightwise in ChatGPT > Settings > Usage. Raise it there or wait for the week to reset. Nightwise never charges for requests.

It says my account can't share its plan.

The connected account needs a ChatGPT Go, Plus or Pro plan, and the permission has to be granted at sign-in. Check which account you connected and that its plan is current.

How do I disconnect?

Open More > ChatGPT plan > Disconnect. To revoke the permission on OpenAI's side as well, go to ChatGPT Settings > Security and login > Login connections.

Is it medical advice?

No. It is never a diagnosis, and it never suggests changing a pressure or a setting. "Worth mentioning to your clinician" is as far as it goes.

Your data & privacy

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything Nightwise reads from your card stays on your phone. There is no account and no server. The only exception is the optional ChatGPT plan feature above, which sends summary numbers only when you ask it to. For full detail, see our Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my data?

Open More and tap Delete all data. Deleting the app also removes everything stored on your phone. Your SD card is never changed.

Something's wrong

The card isn't recognized.

Make sure you picked the card's top folder, the one that contains STR.edf and the DATALOG folder, not a folder inside it. Philips cards are not supported yet.

The import stopped partway.

The card most likely came out of the reader mid-copy. Plug it back in and import again.
