Nightwise: CPAP Data Tracker · Last updated: 16 October 2026

The short version: Nightwise reads your ResMed CPAP machine's SD card on your phone. The card's data (your nights, breathing events, leak, pressure, settings, and the machine's model and serial number) stays on your phone only, is never uploaded, and we never see it. There is no account to create. The only data anyone receives is anonymous crash and usage information that helps us keep the app working, the purchase details needed to process a purchase, and, only if you choose to connect your ChatGPT plan, the summary numbers described in the ChatGPT section below.

Who we are

This app is operated by OnIT Tech Pty Ltd (ABN 71 670 099 395), trading as Mental Metal ("we", "us"). If you have any questions about this policy or your privacy, contact us at [email protected].

Your CPAP data stays only on your device

You plug your machine's SD card into a card reader, pick its folder in your phone's own file picker, and Nightwise copies the files into its own storage and reads them there. From those files it shows you last night, the whole night, your trends, changes to the machine's settings, and a doctor report. Everything it reads (your nights, breathing events, leak, pressure, settings, and the machine's model and serial number) is not collected by us, not transmitted off your device, and not stored on any server. You do not create an account, and we cannot access your data.

The SD card itself is never changed: Nightwise only reads it. Delete all data in the More tab removes everything the app copied, and deleting the app does the same. The doctor report PDF is made on your phone and only leaves it when you choose to share or print it. The optional name you can type on a report is printed on that report only and is never stored.

Information that is collected

To keep the app stable and understand how it is used, a small amount of anonymous information is processed by the trusted services below. None of it includes a value from one of your nights, a date, your machine's serial number, or a file name, and none of it identifies you personally. The fourth row applies only if you connect your ChatGPT plan.

ServiceWhat it processesWhy
Sentry (crash reporting) Diagnostic data when the app crashes or errors: device model, operating system version, app version, and the technical stack trace. Configured so that no health values, dates, serial numbers, or file names are ever included. To detect and fix crashes and bugs.
Aptabase (usage analytics) Anonymous, aggregated usage events (for example, that a card was imported or that a night was viewed) and bucketed counts, never a value from a night. No names, no accounts, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking across other apps or websites. To understand which features are used so we can improve the app.
RevenueCat + Apple / Google If you buy Nightwise Pro: your purchase status, an anonymous app-assigned identifier, and purchase/receipt information. Payment itself is handled by Apple or Google, so we never see your card details. To process and restore your purchase.
OpenAI (optional, only if you connect your ChatGPT plan) The summary numbers for the night or period you ask about, sent from your phone to OpenAI under your own ChatGPT plan, and only when you tap Explain this night, Ask about this night, or Before your clinic visit. Never the raw recordings, your name, the serial number, or any file. The full list is in the next section. To write the explanation you asked for.

Optional: explaining your nights with your ChatGPT plan

Nightwise can write a plain-language explanation of a night, answer a question about it, or prepare a short summary before a clinic visit. This feature is off unless you connect a ChatGPT account, and a ChatGPT Go, Plus or Pro plan is needed for it to work. Even once connected, nothing is sent until you tap Explain this night, Ask about this night, or Before your clinic visit.

What is sent, per tap. The night's summary numbers: hours used, breathing events per hour, leak, pressure, the machine's settings and model name, plus totals for the last 7 nights. For a clinic visit page, the last 30 or 90 nights' summary numbers with their dates. For Ask about this night, the question you typed goes with them.

What is never sent. The raw breathing recordings or any detailed signal, your name, the machine's serial number, the name typed on a report, or any file.

Where it goes. Straight from your phone to OpenAI, using your own ChatGPT plan through OpenAI's "Sign in with ChatGPT". Nightwise has no server in between, holds no OpenAI API key, and keeps no copy of what is sent or answered. What OpenAI receives is covered by OpenAI's own privacy policy and its terms for using your ChatGPT plan in other apps and sites.

Limits and cost. Requests count against the weekly limit you set for Nightwise in ChatGPT (Settings > Usage). Nightwise never charges for them and never falls back to any other paid option.

What Nightwise stores. The sign-in tokens, in your phone's secure storage (Keychain on iPhone, Android Keystore on Android), and the account's email address so the app can show which account is connected. Nothing else: no copy of the numbers sent or of the explanations received.

How to disconnect. More > ChatGPT plan > Disconnect removes the connection from your phone. To revoke the permission on OpenAI's side as well, use ChatGPT Settings > Security and login > Login connections.

The explanations are written from your numbers to help you understand them. They are not medical advice and never a diagnosis; talk to your doctor or sleep clinician about anything that concerns you.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies: Sentry, Aptabase, RevenueCat, Apple, Google, and OpenAI. As these are global services, the limited data described above may be processed on servers outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union.

What we never do

We do not sell your data. We never upload your CPAP data or share your health information with anyone. We do not show advertising, and we do not use advertising or cross-app tracking identifiers.

Your rights and choices

Because your CPAP data lives only on your device, you are in direct control of it: Delete all data in More removes it, and deleting the app does too. For the anonymous diagnostic and usage data, and for purchase data held by our providers, you may contact us at [email protected] to ask about access or deletion. Anything OpenAI received under your ChatGPT plan is held in your own OpenAI account, under OpenAI's privacy policy and controls. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the Australian Privacy Act, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA); we will honor applicable requests.

Children

This app is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
