Getting started

What does Churnie actually do?

Churnie plans your credit-card churning. Pick a trip and it shows how far your points get you; the Plan lays out the next 24 months of cards; and for each card you hold it paces the spend, tells you when the bonus is safe, and reminds you before the year-2 fee. It also knows when each bank will pay you a bonus again.

Does Churnie connect to my bank?

No, and it never will. There are no bank logins, no card numbers, and no credentials. Everything in Churnie is information you type in yourself, and it stays on your phone.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up and no login. On first launch Churnie asks which banks you've had a card with recently (so it knows who will pay you), then you're churning.

How do I log spend towards the minimum?

Since 2.0 you enter the total, not each purchase. Open the card: the Min spend step has a Spent so far box. Type the total your bank app shows and tap Update. Churnie shows how much is left and the dollars-per-day pace needed. With Ask me every Sunday on, a Sunday reminder asks for the latest total; tap it to update.

How do I add a card?

Tap + and pick it from the list: live sign-up offers first (each saying whether that bank will pay you), then every Australian rewards card. A live offer fills in the whole offer; a listed card fills the bank, name, program and fee. If yours isn't listed, tap Not listed? Enter it yourself.

What is the Plan?

The Plan tab (it replaced the Radar in 2.0) lays out your next 24 months: spends to finish, keep-or-cancel decisions, banks reopening, and suggested applications spaced about three months apart at banks that will pay you. Drag an application to change the order and the trip date moves with it; tap one for the offer, or Skip this card. Everything the Radar showed (deals, your banks, past cards) is still there, below the plan.

How does the trip goal work?

Tap Set a goal on Today and pick a trip (priced from the airline's own award table) or type your own points target, then enter the points you already have. Bonuses that land after that add on, and the bar shows the ones still on the way. When you get there, tap I booked it.

Can I track my partner's cards?

Yes, since 2.0. In Settings, Two players, add their name. Each card is then yours or theirs, banks keep a separate clock for each of you, and Today has a You / Name / Both switch. Both of you count toward one trip. Stopping moves their cards to you; nothing is deleted.

Can Churnie fill in a card from a deal?

Yes, since 1.4. Tap a deal (on the Plan, Today's next move, or the Add a card list), then Start a churn with this card. The bonus, cashback, minimum spend and annual fee come from the deal, and you only confirm the date you opened it. Tap Edit offer details if your offer differs.

Where did the Timeline tab go?

Since 1.4 it lives on Today. Each card has its own small timeline bar and its next date, the card's screen shows its full lifecycle, and the dates a bank reopens to you are on the Plan.

Where is "Mark as cancelled"?

When a card reaches its cancel window, its screen opens with the cancel-day checklist and a Mark as cancelled button. Before then it's in the card's ⋯ menu, next to Delete card.

What do "locked" and "holding" mean on the Plan tab?

Holding means you currently have a card from that bank (or its group), so its bonus clock hasn't started. Locked means you closed one recently and the bank's exclusion window is still running; Churnie shows the month it reopens.

Does Churnie track cashback?

Yes, since 1.3. Add the cashback a card promises alongside its points and Churnie shows it on Today, on the card, in the Ledger and in the deals, counting it toward net value once it lands.

Are the eligibility rules guaranteed?

No, but they are always current. Since 1.5.0, bank exclusion-window rules come from a live feed that Churnie refreshes weekly from each bank's own product pages. Even so, rules are informational only, not financial advice. Always verify the rule in the card's current offer terms before applying.

What's new in 2.0?

Churnie now plans, not just tracks: a trip goal on Today, the Plan tab, a next move at the bottom of Today, a shareable haul with milestones in the Ledger, and two players. It is also easier: a first-run check of your past cards, picking a card from a list, and spend entered as one total with a Sunday check-in. From 1.5: bank rules from a weekly feed, keep or cancel when a bonus pays in parts, and past cards with any close date.

Reminders

What will Churnie remind me about?

Three families of reminders: cancel-by alerts (30, 7, and 1 day before your cancel deadline), min-spend deadlines (14, 7, 3, and 1 day out), and a points-overdue nudge if a bonus hasn't landed 60 days after you met the spend. Each can be switched off in Settings.

What time do reminders arrive?

9am on the day, in your phone's own time zone. Before version 1.3.2 some reminders could land hours off (in the evening in Australia). Update the app and open it once, and your existing reminders are moved to the right time automatically.

When is it "safe to cancel"?

Once your bonus points have landed in the airline or rewards program (not just the card account), the balance is paid, and your direct debits are moved. The card's cancel-day checklist walks through it. Churnie also flags clawback risk if you've held the card only a few months.

Is Churnie really free?

What does it cost?

Nothing. Every feature is free: unlimited cards, pacing, reminders, the Radar and the Ledger. No ads, no in-app purchases.

So how will Churnie make money?

In future the app may show clearly-labelled offers or referral links to card products. If and when that happens, it will be plainly disclosed in the app and on this page, kept separate from the app's neutral tracking features, and will never change what the tracker tells you.

Privacy & data

Where is my data stored?

On your phone, full stop. Nothing you track is uploaded. See the Privacy Policy for the details.

How do I delete my data?

Delete any card from its screen (the ⋯ menu), or delete the app to remove everything it stored.
